Before the Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project (LPRP) was conceived, there were consultations and proposals to include build a new community facility to house a number of local community groups in Lathlain including the Carlisle Scout Group and Carlisle Girl Guides. Due to cost, this was determined to not be a viable option at the time and the project was shelved.
When LPRP was introduced, a Community Building Zone (Zone 6) was created with the objective to provide a facility for three local community groups. This facility will not be large enough to accommodate the Scouts and Guides.
In February 2014, it was agreed by the Town’s project working group that the façade of the existing Scout hall (sitting on Lot 61 of Lathlain Place) would look out of place sitting alongside the multi-million dollar redevelopment, and the facility and groups occupying it would benefit greatly from an upgrade.
Zone 8 has therefore been created to provide a refurbishment of the existing facility.
