Lathlain Park has been the home of Perth Football Club since 1959. The club welcomes the planned upgrade to their clubrooms and development of community facilities for year round use and looks forward to sharing the many benefits of the redevelopment project with the West Coast Eagles and the broader community.
In 2015 A Business Case was jointly developed by the Town in conjunction with the Department of Sport and Recreation, West Australian Football Commission and Perth Football Club to support redevelopment of the football club and community facilities as part of the LPRP.
The main objective of the Business Case was to establish the funding arrangements for the redevelopment of this Zone. This is currently being revised.
Who owns the building?
The Town of Victoria Park owns the building and leases it to the Perth Football Club under a formal lease contract.
How will the proposed redevelopment be funded?
The 2015 Business Case explored the possible redevelopment costs and potential funding partners. Given the substantial costs in rebuilding facilities of this type, funding will need to be secured through a variety of sources including government and non-government sources. Funding from the Federal Government, the State Government and the Town will be required. Part of the funding comes from a Lease commiment from the West Coast Eagles as part of thier ground lease.
When will the redevelopment of this Zone commence?
There is no precise timeline or schedule for these redevelopment works. Works scheduling will be dependent on a number of other inter-related factors, including when the required funding for the redevelopment can be raised and how temporary relocation arrangements can be made.
What will be the impact on the community during the redevelopment?
The Town will aim to ensure there is a minimal amount of impact on residents, business owners and visitors in the area. Due to the size and scope of the eventual works, there will be short-term disruption from time to time. The project vision has been to deliver a positive impact on the precinct with people-friendly community accessible facilities and public spaces to be enjoyed and used by businesses, residents, visitors and community groups. The Town will welcome community member comment and enquiries throughout a development.
